CP3-Lecture: Lorentz-covariant coordinate-space methods in lattice QCD

The existing sub-ppm precision measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon provides a highly stringent test of the Standard Model of particle physics. The precision of the theory prediction is limited by the hadronic contributions. A significant effort is underway in the lattice QCD community to reduce the uncertainty in the hadronic vacuum polarization (HVP) contribution as well as in the hadronic light-by-light (HLbL) contribution. I will describe a Lorentz-covariant coordinate-space method to address the latter in lattice QCD. I explain why coordinate-space methods might also be advantageous in the calculation of the HVP contribution and in lattice calculations of other quantities such as hadronic form factors.
